— What it does
Three jobs. Done together, not against each other.
- 01Clears
Calms breakouts, dissolves blackheads.
Salicylic acid loosens the plug. Decanediol and licochalcone A go after the bacteria and the inflammation — without stripping the surface.
- 02Calms
Restores a rested, even glow.
2% niacinamide evens post-acne marks. L-carnitine modulates excess oil instead of drying it out.
- 03Respects
Barrier-first, every night.
Panthenol repairs. Vitamin E protects. pH-tuned 4.8–5.0, non-comedogenic, fragrance-free — built for nightly use.

— Honest answers
The questions you’d ask if we were on the phone.
Q.01Will this purge me?
Mild, brief congestion in the first 1–2 weeks is possible — that’s salicylic acid working through what was already forming in the pore. Easing in 2–3 nights per week for the first two weeks helps. If you’re still broken out past 4 weeks, stop and check in with a dermatologist.
Q.02Will it dry me out?
It’s formulated to avoid that. The base is fragrance-free and includes glycerin, panthenol, and vitamin E to keep the barrier intact. L-carnitine modulates oil instead of stripping it. Most users tolerate nightly use within two weeks.
Q.03When will I see results?
Most users notice fewer new breakouts and smoother texture by week 4. The peer-reviewed study cited above measured outcomes at 12 weeks — for marks and even tone, that’s the realistic window. Skincare rewards consistency, not intensity.
Q.04Is it safe in pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
We don’t recommend it during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Topical salicylic acid at 1% is below most thresholds of concern, but no acne actives are universally accepted in pregnancy. Talk to your OB before using.
Q.05How does this compare to The Ordinary or Differin?
Differin (adapalene 0.1%) is a retinoid — different mechanism, often more irritating, prescription-grade efficacy. The Ordinary’s salicylic acid 2% is cheaper, more aggressive, and barrier-stripping for many. Realize sits between: clinical-grade actives, formulated together with barrier care, dosed nightly without burning.
— From the founder
I built this for the skin Accutane left behind.
I finished my course of Accutane the way most people do — relieved, and expecting that everything would finally be fine. The cystic breakouts stopped. But the blackheads came back, the dullness lingered, and nothing on the shelf met me where I was: post- treatment skin that wanted to be looked after, not punished.
Realize is the nightly step I wished had existed. Four clinically-studied actives, niacinamide for the marks, and a base built to keep the barrier happy. One pea-sized dose. No drama.
